Philly Rock & Soul was formed in 2011, consisting of nine seasoned and talented musicians. The band specializes in tunes from the 1960s thru the '80s, emphasizing R&B, Soul, and Rock genres. Our lineup is designed to evoke the sounds of that special era, consisting of male and female vocals, drums, bass, guitar, keyboard and horn section. We would love to perform at your special event, birthday, anniversary, wedding, corporate event or benefit, or in your bar, club, or restaurant. Meet the band: |
Chris
Band leader, drums ![]() | Chris started drumming at age 8 when he got his first snare drum. After starting a few bands he took a break to get married and start a family. Chris is a native of Bucks County and lives in Jamison where the band jams every week. In 2010, after his wife bought him a new set of drums, he got the itch to start another band and founded Philly Rock & Soul through Craiglist. He enjoys Motown, Oldies and Soul and entertaining people who like to party. ![]() Ray Vocals | Since his return to the Philly and South Jersey music scene in 2010 Ray has been a fixture on local stages in front of a diverse and eclectic mix of bands that ranged from a Beatles tribute show, through blues and classic rock, and even including a pop and dance band. He’s excited to be a part of the energy, excitement, fun, and great musicianship that is Philly Rock and Soul. |
| Ali - Vocals Ali is originally from Southern NJ and has been performing professionally for the last 10 years. She holds a BM in Vocal Performance from Rowan University and an MM in Music Education from Temple University. Her performance experience ranges from classical music to contemporary pop. When not on stage with PG, she is a full time elementary music teacher. |
![]() Drew Trumpet | Drew - adds a sizzling edge to the horn section. Graduating from Penn State, he has played in the Blue Band and Reading Buccaneer's Drum & Bugle Corp. He's been with the band since it's birth. His musical interests include big band & jazz thru funk & pop. |
![]() Guitar | A lifelong resident of the Philadelphia area and avid guitarist since age 12. Justin has performed in numerous bands over the years as a mostly self-taught player. His love of music covers a wide range of styles. Justin is very pleased to join a talented and dynamic group like Philly Rock and Soul where maximum audience entertainment is the goal. |
Chuck ![]() Bass, Vocals | Chuck was born in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia and has been involved in music since the 70's. He spent over 20 years playing bass for the band "In The Pocket" (aka "The Generation Gap"). Later on he played in various other bands and even got to back Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes in Wildwood. For the past several years Chuck has been playing guitar for an acoustic duo performing at various locations in Bucks County. Musical tastes are widespread and a few of his favorites are Tower of Power, The Beatles, October Project, Eva Cassidy, Yes and Chicago. By joining Philly Rock & Soul, Chuck returns to his R&B roots. |
![]() Vito Keyboard, Organ, vocals | Vito grew up in the Frankford section of Philadelphia. He started out as a guitar player but a few years later started playing piano and has spent the last 20 years playing keyboards with "The Hi Fidelity Band, formerly “Freefall”. He has played in various other bands including “Woody and the Peckers” and The Debra Michaels Project. Musical tastes range from Earth Wind and Fire, Chicago to Queen, Styx and Journey. Vito is excited about performing with a talented group of musicians and vocalists in Philly Rock & Soul. |

![]() Percussion | Born and raised in Philadelphia, Bruce has been involved in the Philly music scene since the 80's in bands like Hot Licks & Windswept Dream. Most recently he was in a similar dance band called Soul Purpose for the last 16 years. Bruce's enthusiasm for the music is apparent in every performance. He is truly thrilled to be working with the band and playing the music that he loves with such accomplished musicians. |

Trombone | Born and raised in Philadelphia, Justin has established himself as a professional trombone player. Justin has performed with many corporate event bands over the years and marches in the annual Philadelphia Mummers Day parade with the Woodland Stringband. Hes had the honor of performing with artists like Philadelphia sax legend, Jimmy Heath, Stanley Clark, Bill Jolly, and Kevin Eubanks, just to name a few. He has also played in opening acts for Hilary Duff and a Philadelphia favorite, The Ojay's. Justin's ability to adapt and play most styles of music is what has made him a success in the music industry. He is excited to call Philly Rock & Soul his new home and looks forward to sharing their success as one of the areas top party bands. |
